Participationin The Liver Meeting? 2024, the 75th annual meeting of The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD)
From November, 15th to 19th , 2024, I attended the The Liver Meeting? 2024, organized by AASLD at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, U.S.A. During this conference, I presented a poster on my study, tittled “Seroprevalence and genotype distribution of hepatitis A and E viruses among general residents in Binh Thuan Province, southern Vietnam” This study investigated the seroprevalence of Hepatitis A Virus(HAV) and Hepatitis E Virus(HEV) among the general population who lived in Binh Thuan province, Vietnam. The results of the study revealed a seroprevalence of total anti-HAV was 93.8% showing a decline in anti-HAV seroprevalence over the past decade, from 1999 to 2012. In contrast, only 31.3% were immune to HEV, especially in young adults <40 years old. Our study highlighted that HAV RNA positivity was relatively high (5.7%) among the total anti-HAV positive cases.
This conference provided an incredible opportunity for me to expand my expertise in liver diseases and viral hepatitis, especially HAV and HEV, which are the focus of my research. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, I gained valuable insights into the latest advancements in this field. Additionally, the conference enabled me to connect with international researchers, enhancing my professional network. The insights I gained from the conference was directly aligned with my professional development goals.
Finally, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the professors who guided and supported me throughout this journey, enabling me to present this study. I am also thankful to all the members of the Department of Epidemiology, Infectious Disease Control and Prevention, as well as everyone who contributed to supporting graduate students in pursuing international academic opportunities.
