¡ö Abstract: Abenomics, a set of economic policies Shinzo Abe introduced in 2013, was launched with a dramatic announcement of the Bank of Japan¡¯s new bold monetary policy aimed at countering Japan¡¯s longstanding economic slump. In this lecture, in the aftermath of Abe¡¯s unexpected death, I reflect on the legacy of Abenomics and opportunities it affords to reimagine the relationship between economy and politics. In particular, I develop an exchange-based theory of expectations.
