We are investigating the weathering of rocks and the transport properties within rocks. In particular, we are using borehole cores to study the changes in rock properties from the unweathered part deep underground to the weathered part near the surface.
We are looking for one student in The IDEC Institute 3+1 Program to participate in our research (participation period is negotiable).
The outcomes of your participation will be compiled into a graduation thesis to be submitted to your university.
In addition to the program application requirements outlined in the application guidelines, applicants must meet the following criterion:
(1) Relevant Knowledge:
Applicants must have bachelor's-level knowledge of earth science, especially rocks and minerals.
Please submit the required documents through IAAS. The application deadline is February 21st, 2025.
For more details of the required application documents in the program, please refer to the application guideline. You need to clearly indicate in your application materials, such as your resume, how you meet the additional requirements from the lab.
To register for IAAS, please visit the following website:
Please note that applications are exclusively open to students from our partner universities. Partner universities will announce the application details to their students when the application period begins.
The selection process begins with a review of applicants' submitted documents. Candidates who pass this initial document screening will be invited for an interview.
Final acceptance will be based on the interview results, with successful applicants demonstrating the ability to effectively carry out the research activities required from each laboratory. Document screening will take place in February, and interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted in March.
We are looking forward to receiving applications from students who are interested in weathering of rocks and its numerical modeling.
