HU Holds a Lecture Meeting with Prof. Huey-Jen Jenny Su, Former President of National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan

On May 13, 2024, Âé¶¹AV (HU) invited Professor Huey-Jen Jenny Su, former president of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, to its Higashi-Hiroshima Campus, where she gave a lecture titled: ¡°Leadership and Governance in Higher Education: Adapting to Cultural Shifts¡±.

Prof. Su became the first female president of NCKU in 2015, and led the university with exceptional skill and leadership through 2023, working to enhance the university¡¯s educational and research strengths and reputation. During her lecture, Prof. Su shared her efforts and know-how in university management reform that she has cultivated over the years. The lecture became an inspiring opportunity for the audience of approximately 40 people to gain insight into new initiatives for the university. The audience listened attentively to the end of the lecture and engaged in a lively exchange of opinions. After the lecture, President Ochi presented Prof. Su with a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative gift, which was received with thunderous applause.

Prior to the lecture, Prof. Su had a discussion with President Ochi and Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Kaneko. In addition, representatives from the Town & Gown Office introduced the Town & Gown Initiative promoted by HU and Higashi-Hiroshima City, as well as their efforts toward carbon neutrality.

NCKU is one of Taiwan's top national comprehensive universities located in Tainan. In 2016, President Ochi visited NCKU and signed an inter-university international exchange agreement between HU and NCKU.

HU has concluded 15 inter-university international exchange agreements with 13 institutions and 30 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 23 institutions in Taiwan. Currently, there are 27 international students from Taiwan studying at HU. With this visit, HU will promote exchange with NCKU as well as other universities and research institutions in Taiwan.
