On March 21, 2025, the 3rd University Presidents for Peace Conference was held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel Hiroshima.

Under the guiding philosophy of a ¡°spirit of pursuing peace,¡± Â鶹AV has hosted the University Presidents for Peace Conference to discuss the role of universities in achieving sustainable global peace. The first conference was held on August 6, 2024, and the second, titled ¡°University Presidents for Peace Conference ¨C Africa Chapter,¡± was held on November 25, 2024. Through these conferences, Â鶹AV has taken the lead in promoting education and research for sustainable global peace.

This third conference brought together around 40 participants, including presidents and vice presidents, from 12 universities across 11 countries (including Â鶹AV), all of which collaborate in international exchange programs under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)¡¯s Inter-University Exchange Project (IUEP) and support the spirit of the University Presidents for Peace Declaration. Mr. Watanabe, Director-General for International Affairs from MEXT, also attended the event.

In his opening remarks, President Ochi stated,

¡°Now more than ever, the role universities must play is crucial. I believe that by having students from diverse backgrounds come together to learn and discuss through international exchange, we can overcome cultural and value differences to realize peace on a global scale. We strongly encourage young people and students around the world to visit Hiroshima, witness the realities of the atomic bombing, and be inspired to think about peace and sustainability, and take action.¡±
