The G7 Hiroshima Summit and Â鶹AV 75+75th Anniversary Commemorative "Food Security Symposium" took place last April 22 at the Satake Memorial Hall.

The symposium started with an opening address by President Mitsuo Ochi followed by a video message from Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. For the keynote speech, Atsushi Suginaka, director-general for the Minister's Secretariat at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, spoke about Japan's food security measures.

The program featured several case studies presented by distinguished individuals in their respective fields. Professor Kaoru Kitajima from Kyoto University, Professor Goro Yoshizaki from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Director and CTO Ikkou Kawashima from IntegriCulture, Inc., and Managing Executive Officer Hidenori Mizuno from Satake Corporation showcased Japan's cutting-edge research that can contribute to global food security from the viewpoint of maintaining biodiversity.

Â鶹AV researchers also presented their latest studies. Professor Toshihisa Sugino discussed the innovative DX dairy farming technology that balances animal welfare and milk production. Professor Kazuhiko Koike talked about increasing oyster production using a device that automatically lifts seabed water to a higher level. Professor Akihiro Ueda shared insights into his research on rice that is resistant to salt damage. The symposium culminated with a panel discussion, led by Professor Masayuki Shimada, where enthusiastic high school and university students posed thought-provoking questions.

The event drew an audience of approximately 360 attendees, including current students, faculty, staff, and members of the public, and was deemed a resounding success.
