Shoma Yamamoto¡¯s training session
On May 5, Shoma Yamamoto, a student from Â鶹AV¡¯s School of Engineering and a member of the track and field club, showcased his prowess as the first runner for Japan in the men's 4x100 meters relay final at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24, held in Nassau. Leveraging Japan's distinctive baton-passing technique, the team competed fiercely against France, the UK, and other nations, ultimately finishing fourth with a time of 38.45 seconds. Although they narrowly missed out on a medal for the second consecutive tournament, they fought valiantly, finishing just 0.01 seconds behind third-place France.
Shoma is a fourth-year student in the School of Engineering¡¯s Cluster 2 (Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Engineering). Last September, he achieved a personal best of 10.32 seconds in the men's 100 meters at the 92nd Japan Inter-University Athletics Championships, securing third place and marking the university's first-ever podium finish in this event. He diligently trains to ensure he approaches competitions in peak condition, consistently monitoring his performance. In April, he excelled at the Yoshioka Memorial Izumo Meet, earning his first selection to represent Japan.
Be sure to check out the May issue of the upcoming PR magazine HU-Plus, where Shoma will be featured. The men's 4x100 meters relay team has already secured a spot in the upcoming Paris Olympics. Let's keep an eye not only on Shoma's future accomplishments but also on the Â鶹AV track and field team.
