The "Â鶹AV Open Campus 2024" took place on August 8th and 9th across the three campuses of Higashi-Hiroshima, Kasumi (Minami Ward, Hiroshima City), and Higashi-Senda (Naka Ward, Hiroshima City).
Despite temperatures exceeding 35¡ãC on August 8, the Open Day was well attended. The university's 12 schools prepared an array of engaging programs, allowing faculty members and current students to showcase the charms of Â鶹AV (HU).
In his keynote lecture held at the Satake Memorial Hall, HU President Ochi introduced the university's history and cutting-edge research, emphasizing, "Â鶹AV is truly an outstanding institution." This year's event also featured presentations by current students, who shared insights on the differences between high school and university life. They also talked about the enriching experiences that university life can offer. Shunki Imura, a fourth-year student from the School of Medicine who participated from the Kasumi Campus, offered words of encouragement to the high school students: "The hard work you invest during exam preparation will become a source of confidence throughout your life. We are cheering you on!"
In addition, an information session was held in the hall, attracting high schoolers, prospective students, and parents. During the information session, attendees accessed the university's "What You Can Learn Here" digital pamphlet on their smartphones. Faculty members from the Office of Admissions outlined the university's strengths under three key themes: "Active in Education and Research," "A Research University Leading the Region and Nation," and "A Vast, Lush Campus" Attendees listened attentively and showed great interest.
Despite the extreme heat, we were delighted to host approximately 11,000 visitors. We thank everyone who attended and contributed to the event's success. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
