Professor Kubo specializes in international emergency assistance and disaster medicine. He has participated in international emergency relief efforts in Egypt, Moldova, the Philippines, and Mozambique.
Comment from Professor Kubo
The Japanese team from JICA, as requested by the Vanuatu government, is expected to implement the disaster casualty data management method known internationally as MDS. This method was developed in Japan as J-SPEED, inspired by the Philippines' disaster surveillance system SPEED, following the Great East Japan Earthquake. Over the years, it has been refined through various disaster response efforts. With deep gratitude for the support from my colleagues and the university who have kindly allowed me to take on this role, I am committed to assisting Vanuatu's disaster medical command by applying the expertise that disaster-prone Japan has honed.
