On April 18th 2024, our former English postgraduate tutor Aliyyah Nuha was invited as a guest speaker at the "Human Library Session" organised by the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) Library. The two-hour session was moderated by Madam Nur Azzah, Chief Librarian of USIM. The initiative of this sharing session is to understand the working model of WRC practiced by Â鶹AV for implementation at USIM.
During this talk, Aliyyah Nuha shared her personal experience as a WRC tutor with the academics and library staff from USIM. In her presentation, she also explained the WRC philosophy, operational procedures and types of services offered by the WRC. Besides that, she also shared some challenges of being a tutor and suggested a few key points that USIM should consider when establishing a WRC in the future. The talk concluded with a round of questions and answers from the audience.
There appears to be a growing interest for universities in Southeast Asia to set up a Writing Center. And Â鶹AV WRC is glad to witness our tutors' growth in the service and the maturity that they have demonstrated in their post-service career trajectory. Â鶹AV Postgraduate Tutor Training Program has been accredited by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Certificate since 2021 and has been implemented under the CRLA framework. Â鶹AV WRC is deeply committed to assist our postgraduate tutors' professional development and is always open for enhancing its pre-service and in-service training model in the cooperation with other institutions.
