WPI-SKCM? and the HU Writing Center invite you to the Science Communication Session ¡°Sharing Your Science: Exploring comics and Nature journal publishing¡± on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Mirai Crea, Âé¶¹AV Higashi-Hiroshima Campus, with online participation available. This session will feature Professor Saad Bhamla from the Georgia Institute of Technology, who will explore storytelling, comics, and science communication, followed by Dr. Amos Martinez, editor at Nature Materials, discussing the process of publishing in Nature journals.

Abstract for Publishing in Nature Journals: An editor¡¯s view, Dr. Amos Martinez

In this talk, I will introduce the editorial and peer-review process within Nature Materials and discuss the synergies between Nature Research Journals, journal scopes, as well as the various outcomes and options during manuscript submissions. Finally, I will discuss the responsibilities and challenges of being an editor in scientific publishing and present recent initiatives within the portfolio aimed at supporting early career researchers.

This event is part of the 2-week 2024 Winter School, covering topics related to knot topology, chirality, and sustainability from December 9-20, 2024. Week 1 will be at Âé¶¹AV HigashiHiroshima Campus, focused on mathematics with presenters including Lou Kauffman (University of Illinois at Chicago), Sabetta Matsumoto (Georgia Institute of Technology), and Amos Martinez (Nature Materials). Week 2 will be at Kyushu University Ito Campus focused on sustainability with presenters including Amory Lovins (Stanford), Javier Campo (Spanish National Research Council), and Jieh-wen Tsung (National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University). Talks will also be available by webinar, so online participation is also warmly welcomed.
