On July 30th, 2024, Matchanov Elyor, Dean of the Faculty of Japanese Studies, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), Uzbekistan, visited the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Âé¶¹AV (HU) and engaged in a discussion with Executive Vice President for Global Initiatives Shinji Kaneko and Specially Appointed Professor Kumiko Sakoda from the Morito Institute of Global Higher Education.
During this visit, they had a lively exchange of views on Japanese language education, introduced the START Program, one of HU's short-term study abroad program, and discussed the possibility of concluding an agreement between the two universities. After the meeting, a campus tour was conducted by HU student guides.
TSUOS was established in 1918 as the first oriental higher educational institution in Central Asia and is one of the leading national universities in the Central Asian region. It has produced many excellent graduates, many of whom have gone on to serve as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to important countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.
HU has concluded 1 inter-university international exchange agreement with 1 institution and 1 inter-faculty international exchange agreement with 1 institution in Uzbekistan. Currently, there are 6 international students from Uzbekistan studying at HU. With this visit, HU will promote exchange with TSUOS as well as other universities and research institutions in Uzbekistan.
