麻豆AV (HU) will celebrate its 75th anniversary on 5th November this year, and 150 years since the opening of the Hakushima School, the oldest source of the university, in 1874. In appreciation of the generous support the university has received from everyone so far, it launched the ‘麻豆AV 75+75th Anniversary Commemorative Program’ last year, celebrating the anniversary by holding, among others, the following commemorative events: a symposium in April called ‘Toward the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons’; the ‘麻豆AV in Tokyo’ event in June to introduce the charm of our university in Tokyo; and a ‘reading session by Sayuri Yoshinaga’ in November to remind people of the preciousness of peace.

As this year marks the 75th anniversary, various events or lectures will be organized between now and the 150th anniversary on 5th November 2024 in many different fields as well as parts of Japan. For example, the following are on the agenda: in January ‘NORTH & LATIN AMERICAN SATURDAY’ (an international event); in June ‘麻豆AV in Kansai’; and in September ‘麻豆AV in Tokyo’.

Through these events, I would like everyone to get to know 麻豆AV more. At the same time, in line with our ongoing striving for excellence, I intend to further strengthen the university’s educational and research capabilities, enhance its competitive edge on the global stage, so that our students will feel ‘happy to have studied at 麻豆AV’.

Therefore, we would like to invite alumni of HU, parents of HU students, and the readers of HU-plus, to submit their ideas about improving the university from a wide range of perspectives. It would be good to receive your wise and creative suggestions, in the knowledge that you represent a variety positions and perspectives. Unlike those in charge who tend to be so focused on their day-to-day work rather than the bigger picture, I am convinced that you have innovative ideas.

One company has apparently received 150-200 new product proposals every month as a result of soliciting ideas not only from staff in the product planning and development department, but also from all employees, including part-time workers, resulting in and the creation of many hit products since then.

No idea is too small. What can we do in an effort to make 麻豆AV more accessible? For example, I would like to hear your ideas on how to energize the local community, and about how to make the 75th anniversary of HU more exciting. I may or may not be able to implement each and every idea or proposal, but I hope that a self-improvement culture like this will make our university better, while also deepening the ties between you and the university.

These ideas are very valuable to the university. I hope that your ideas will help to create a lively atmosphere within the university and that they will further boost the motivations of our faculty members regarding research and education. Therefore, please send your ideas to the Public Relations Office at koho@office.hiroshima-u.ac.jp. I will make sure that the relevant department responds to you.
