Message from the Dean

For the further development of the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences

In 2012, all graduate schools on the Kasumi Campus were integrated to establish the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, Â鶹AV. The aims were to nurture highly-advanced medical professionals who can take leading roles in advanced team health care, and promote the foremost educational research through deepening basic research, and collaboration / integration between the 4 disciplines; medical sciences, dental sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and health sciences. Furthermore, in 2019, the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences was reorganized to develop beyond the framework of specialized fields by strengthening cooperation and collaboration not only with specialized fields but also with life and biological sciences and humanities and social sciences, and has continued to develop. In particular, in order to train human resources who can contribute to ¡°science for sustainable development¡±, four degree programs were established in the Division of Biomedical Sciences and five degree programs were established in the Division of Integrated Health Sciences, and the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences became a graduate school that can respond to a wide range of research fields across fields.

In the ¡°Future Vision for Kasumi Campus¡± formulated in November 2023, the basic policy of the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences was set out as ¡°advancing internationalization by making the most of the benefits of interdisciplinary fusion¡±, and based on this policy, we are working to promote education, research and internationalization. In terms of education, we are working to further increase the use of English in classes and online classes, and to increase the number of graduate students who are working or studying at a distance. In terms of research, we are promoting interdisciplinary research across fields, which is one of the features of our graduate school, through five Interdisciplinary Research Sections: ¡°Cancer and Genome-based medicine¡±, ¡°Brain- and Neuro-science¡±, ¡°Regeneration/Immunology/Infection/Allergy¡±, ¡°Aging/Elderly Medical Service/ Lifestyle-related disease/Social medicine¡±, and ¡°Embryology/Development/Growth¡±. We also hope to contribute to the realization of a smart society by actively participating in the Graduate School of Innovation and Practice for Smart Society that was established in 2023, and conducting international medical and health research in collaboration with other research fields. In terms of promoting internationalization, we will continue to work to secure international students by expanding online entrance exams and online classes. We are also aiming to increase the number of international joint papers by promoting the conclusion of inter-departmental agreements with overseas universities and revitalizing exchanges.

Through these efforts, the Graduate School of Biomedical and Sciences will work together with students and faculty members to play a part in realizing Â鶹AV's vision of ¡°University of World-wide Repute and Splendor for Years into the Future¡±. We appreciate your continued guidance and support.
